My alarm didn't ring when the phone was locked.
Whiskly uses notifications to ring when the app is in the background or the phone is locked. Check that notifications are allowed in Settings > Notifications > Whiskly, and that a Focus mode isn't silencing them. Make sure you're on version 1.0.2 or later.
Will I lose my timers if I close the app?
No. Running timers are saved and restored when you open Whiskly again, even after restarting your phone. Countdowns are based on the clock, so they stay accurate while the app is closed.
How do I add time, pause or delete a timer?
Swipe right on a timer to add a minute, and swipe left to delete it. Tap the pause button to pause or resume. Tap the timer itself to restart it, add 1 or 5 minutes, or change its icon.
How do I snooze a timer that has finished?
When the alarm rings with the app open, tap "+1 min" to give it another minute.
Baby Monitor Direct
A private, phone-to-phone audio baby monitor for iPhone and iPad.
How do I pair the two phones?
Open the app on both phones and choose which one stays with the baby. Scan the QR code on the baby's phone with the parent's phone, then scan the code the parent's phone shows with the baby's phone. There is no account to create.
The phones won't connect.
It works best with both phones on the same Wi-Fi network. Some mobile networks block direct connections between phones, so if one phone is on mobile data, try putting both on Wi-Fi. Make sure the app is open on both phones and has permission to use the microphone and camera.
Does the app need to stay open?
Yes, keep the app open on both phones while you monitor. Keep the nursery phone plugged in so it doesn't run out of battery overnight.
Is my audio recorded or uploaded?
No. Sound travels directly between your two phones over an encrypted connection. It is never uploaded, stored or recorded, and the app collects no personal data. See the privacy details below.
How does Talk work?
Hold the talk button on the parent phone to speak through the nursery phone. Your microphone is only on while you hold the button.
Can I keep the nursery phone's screen dark?
Yes. The baby's phone stays dark by default so it won't light up the room. You can turn on a soft night light or dim the screen completely.
Privacy
Baby Monitor Direct has no accounts, analytics, advertising or servers of its own. The microphone streams sound from the baby's phone, and the parent's voice only while Talk is held. The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR codes; no photos or video are saved. To find each other across networks the phones contact public STUN servers run by Google, which see your devices' IP addresses but never receive any audio.
Important
Baby Monitor Direct is an audio monitor, not a medical device. It does not monitor breathing, movement or health, and it is not a substitute for adult supervision.
